I Want {Ed. 7}

Summer edition

I want new hiking equipment. A good backpack. A zippered, lined lunch box. Mace and bear spray. A thigh belt for my knife. New hiking boots. A rain poncho. A mini camping chair.

A pair of Daisy Dukes. A tube top. Denim overalls. A knit jumpsuit. A pair of sandals. (What happened to my old one?) A strapless bra. (If I can ever find one that fits.)

I want nuts. And dried fruit. Oatmeal. You know, granola and trail mix makings. A silicone mold for constructing homemade granola bars. Honey. Maple syrup. Matcha tea (and all the matcha-mixing supplies) for iced matcha lattes. Fruit-infused organic black teas. (You have to get organic when it comes to teas!)

I want soil. Mulch. Fruit trees. Bushes. Paving stones. Semi-circular stones for my fire pit. Shade canopies for three sides of my house. A small, foldable bistro dining set for my back patio. (Finally, after all these years!) A foldable Adirondak chair. A hammock with a small footprint when disassembled.

New door mats. A little outdoor carpet for the front and back porches. New paint so I can refresh the bench out front.

And maybe…lumber. Tons and tons of lumber so I can build a little pergola. (Forget one of those shade canopies!) And…yes, and a small deck outside my back door. If I can build a fence, I can build a deck!

Planters. A few garlands of triangular bunting flags made out of burlap or osnaberg. Fairy lights. Lots and lots of fairy lights.

A tune up for the car - especially the tires. Windshield repairs. A windshield sun shade. (You know what…let’s head over to Amazon and take care of that right now. I won’t make it through another week without one.)

Central AC. Though I’m on the fence with that. We only need that 8-10 weeks out of the year. Maybe a higher quality portable unit than the one I have would suffice…? Something to dream about…

And if I’m really being audacious…a week at the coast in an Air BnB with a hot tub and view of the ocean. Walks on the beach every morning. Tea on a deck. Writing in the afternoons. Brewery fries before bed.

And…and…and…a weekend in a cabin by the river on my way home from a visit with the niblings. Nobody but me and the quilts and the sound of the rapids just beyond the trees. Wandering in the woods. Reading in the shady groves.

I want, I want, I want…
