My name is Yael Wolfe. And I’m here to howl.

I’m a writer, photographer, and artist. I use my work to explore what it means to be a woman in this world, where the Feminine has been dismembered and disrespected.

I want to be whole again – and create spaces and support for other women looking for their own wholeness.

My photo collection, Rising, explores the irrepressible nature of female strength, creativity, and sexuality, through images of nature and my own self-portraits. Each photo is its own story, but all together, they tell a tale of the power of the Feminine, nature and woman speaking as one.

I’m also the creator of Howl, a temple space and artistic celebration of female sexuality, which started as a weekly column about female sexuality. You can find the archive of the original articles here.

I write regularly on Medium, and have been featured in Elephant Journal, Mama Mia, and Residence 11.

I’m a student – or perhaps a lover – of Mother Nature. I am constantly inspired by her beauty and am eager to learn all that she has to teach us. If I’m not at my laptop or behind my camera, you’ll likely find me wandering in the woods with my red cape, just like Little Red Riding Hood.

Or am I the Big Bad Wolfe…?

“In front of the camera, I felt another vulnerability: the terror of allowing myself to be seen (and naked, at that), the simultaneous deep desire to be seen even as that terrified me, and the slow unmasking of my body and soul as I became more and more comfortable in front of the lens.”
